first you need to download mail for exchange for your Nokia E71

The software will tell you that you need define a new profile, accept it
enter your gmail address and password domain choose google select your access
point and click continue.
you will get an error saying that the exchange server is not valid this points you
to another screen where you can define your exchange server
insert m.google.com leave everything else unchanged.
Select Calendar and Contacts In the Sync Options say no to tasks and email
Here you go, Mail for Exchange offers many configuration settings even
push is supported! its much faster than syncml just play around
go to your Dashboard > Service Settings > Mobile > enable Google Sync

Have you been able to sync more than one Google calendar this way? I can sync my main Google calendar using MfE but no additional ones, even if I add them at m.google.com/sync.
hi not really! i havent tried until now, you are right you can just sync one calendar, i'll try to get some more informations about this.

When I try thisI get during syncing, after status "connected" the error: "system error. Please try again later. Tried everything. Do you have a clue?

getting the same error here - on google's support page, they say they don't support mail for exchange on the nokia phones - almost like they turned off the support
I tried this at my Navigator 6110 only with the calendar and it works, but now all former entrys of the Phone are deleted. I thought it would be sync.

I have set up everything on my E71 (I could choose what to do during the first sync (either delete the data on the phone or leave it on the phone) and it worked. Unfortunately all my birthdays are synced with time 0:00 and are shown 1 day too early in the google calender... any idea how to avoid this?

I am using MfE for syncing my e-mail from my exchange server. I guess there is no option to use it for google calendar sync then? As far as I can tell MfE does not support multiple profiles.

This only works with contacts. If you try to sync the calendar it throws up an error message.
This worked on contacts first time around. Then began saying the password was incorrect. I think this may be due to not having a stable enough GPRS connection or other trouble with PUSH. does MfE need to be running in background or does it run all the time whether it is open or not? Is there anywhere else I can fine tune the PUSH for this?

MfE runs in the background you can define the sync time there aswell, every 5 minutes etc

I've only managed to get this to work once, and that was with Contacts only. If try to sync Calendar and/or Email, I get a System Error message in the Log. Is MfE actually designed to with Google Calendar and email?

This works only for one sync! This is the second time I tried to configure this and it's the same... first you can sync the calender and contacts, but always on the second time you get an error saying that the password is incorrect and check profile>credentials>password.
1st of all, thx to markus lanthaler for this perfect instruction. but also i´m afraid that the sync with google calender doesn´t work this time - i also got an error all the time. otherwise it´s wonderful to sync the contacts - it works great

i tried this on my new Nokia 5800 XPressMusic. It works great with Google Calendar.
There is only one thing i can't find out: The sync only adds meetings of the actual week. I want to sync all future calendar entrys.
Where can this be configured?

"contacts" sync works but not the "calendar" sync in my case.
calendar sync works like a charm.
I had to set First Sync in Calendar Options in the MailforExchange App to: "Keep Elements on the Phone"
I would suggest to download the newer version 2.9 from http://businesssoftware.nokia.com/mail_for_exchange_downloads.php

Thanks for this. The sink works for Calendar and Contacts on my Nokia E63.
The down side is after awhile 1) the contacts start "breeding" and disappearing at random and the phone numbers in each contact disappear. Have you had any experience with this occuring?
I am now synchronising contacts using the PC Suite Sync on the phone (thanks for your other blog on that!) and calendar on MfE which works fine.
For the record, I'm syncing google with thunderbird on my laptop via zindus

Get GoogaSync from http://www.googasync.com. It costs but I don't care as long as it works. Syncs all my calendars and supports everything.
Got MfE (latest version is 2.9) to sync with google calendar on my nokia 5800. Used settings above. Didn't work until I realised you can't scroll between pages (on MfE on the phone) altering settings - you must click "back" after altering a page, so it can connect and update and then your change is registered and you can go back in and change something else. May be a 5800 quirk, of course. Good luck!

You have to switch off the syncing of tasks! Then there will be no system error.

I installed on my E71-2 (v300) and it works fine. It also syncs my gmail mails, it created an Inbox called: "Mail for Exchange" and put my mails there. I don't know if this is something new, but it works.

however, only contatcs work for my (E90)
I was able to sync calendar and e-mail for a while on my E71 then it stopped working. I removed the MfE and then reinstalled. I got it to work again only when I sync Email and Calendar. It however, does not sync contacts and tasks.
Here are two dicoveries I have made which may help a few people with E71:
1. If you are having problems with an error messge about password that only comes up occasionally, then do NOT set Sync Mode to 'Always On'. Change it to 'Every 15 minutes'.
2. Donot 'Exit' mfe. Instead switch back to the Home page by pressing the menu button and keeping it pressed until you get to the Task manager. Then select the home page. The will ensure that mfe is always running. I personally have found that it does not appear to work if I just exit.

For Nokia E71 I found, as someone else stated, that when I disabled syncing for Tasks it all started working beautifully.
I just got an E71 for christmas, and I am able to sync my email, but I still get the "incorrect password" error. Every time it shows up, it will keep popping up every few minutes, and DRIVE ME CRAZY. The only way to get it away is to delete the sync profile and recreate it exactly the same. That will get it working again for a few hours.
I've tried updating to the latest MfE, so maybe that will help.
